Through the use of big data analysis, service integration, various real-time apps, and other applications, the goal of establishing a smart and unified government is gradually being achieved, reducing the gap between urban and rural areas through the incorporation of technology.
To pursue the long-term goal of becoming one of the most outstanding smart cities in the world, New Taipei City will continue to adopt the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as its vision, aimed at promoting energy policies and achieving the 2050 Net-Zero city objective through smart city initiatives. Meanwhile, it focuses on protecting sensitive data to strengthen citizens’ trust. By developing “smart government,” “smart life,” “smart economy,” “smart security,” and “sustainable environment,” these five orientations of the smart city will comprehensively elevate New Taipei City to a sustainable and resilient urban area.
• To establish a smart government, the city has integrated all public services into a one-step solution, enabling citizens to access relevant public services online from wherever they are.
• The use of an ICF-based security system that monitors street traffic not only helps citizens view real-time traffic conditions on roads but also provides alternative routes to avoid congestion.
• To build a smart economy, the government has long supported businesses to upgrade and incorporate the use of technologies such as cloud computing, big data analysis, mobile applications, and many others.
• Heading towards a smarter environment, smart LED street lighting has been implemented.
• The implementation of IBM i2 solutions and Google Earth technology helps map criminal networks, assisting the police in solving cases scientifically and intelligently, thereby offering citizens a safer living environment.
• Numerous online resources are readily available to citizens. For example, the New Taipei City Library’s digital platform offers digital learning opportunities for all ages, facilitating access to a wide range of topics.
