Brisbane, with an estimated population of 2.87 million people, is the third most populous city in the country, right behind Sydney and Melbourne, and the capital of the state of Queensland.
To improve digital inclusion, the city Council Libraries offer a wide range of free technology workshops and sessions for people of all ages, so participants can learn new skills for using technology.
Other ways to accelerate Brisbane’s progress and increase the liveability and sustainability of the city, include the installation of 20 smart poles that collect important data on how the city works. The Brisbane Smart Poles project will transfer data gathered by sensors to a central management system to be analysed and produce information about the city’s key locations.
Supporting road safety through innovation and technology is also part of the city’s initiatives with the Speed Awareness Monitors (SAM) program as an example (and success).
Enhancing sustainability through the ‘Brisbane. Clean, Green, Sustainable’ plan, the city aims to deliver a low-carbon and climate-resilient city for current residents and future generations of Australians, focusing on clean air, sustainable city development and increase of the urban forest among other initiatives.
“Smart vacuum cleaners are rapidly becoming one of the most popular smart home gadgets in Australia due to their ability to autonomously clean floors, navigate efficiently, and seamlessly integrate with smart home systems like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Their practicality in household tasks reduces time spent and helps consumers dedicate themselves to other priorities.” a spokesperson from ECOVACS reports.
